Honoring a beloved educator and investing in the next generation of Petroleum Engineers
During the summer of 2016, a group of former students, colleagues and friends of Jocko and Gaye Evans came together to establish the John ‘Jocko’ and Gaye Evans Endowed Scholarship on Montana Tech’s campus. This scholarship serves as a permanent testament to the impact Jocko and Gaye have had on those around him, the Montana Tech campus & the petroleum industry.
During the 70th Anniversary Celebration, it was announced that the Montana Tech SPE Symposium would be renamed in Jocko Evans’ honor. Panel participants came together to raise endowed funds to show their love and appreciation for Jocko’s contributions to the department and to the Symposium. These funds will be used to grow the John 'Jocko' and Gaye Evans Endowed Scholarship doubling its size and impact.
Mr. John G “Jocko” Evans passed away Wednesday evening, Nov. 6, 2019. The Montana Tech community mourns the loss of our professor, mentor, supporter and friend. Please join us in honoring the man that made an impact on so many of us.
As of November 2019 over $140,000 has been raised towards the John 'Jocko' and Gaye Evans Endowed Scholarship allows for four $1,000 scholarships each year.
Now our goal is build the scholarship to $175,000. If we are able to meet this benchmark it means we would be able to award additional scholarships and possible larger scholarship amounts annually for Petroleum Students at Montana Tech.
Please join us in spreading the word about the John 'Jocko' and Gaye Evans Scholarship and help us meet this new goal. Please share the project with friends and colleagues via social media and by email.
Thank you for your support of Montana Tech students and honoring Jocko and Gaye!
