Montana Tech Men’s Basketball is gearing up for the 2019-20 season! The Orediggers finished 17-15 last season and sixth in the Frontier Conference. It was a milestone season for the Diggers, winning the most overall games, the most conference games, winning the first postseason playoff game, and having only the second winning record since the 1998-99 season. Taylor England was honored as an all-conference performer and honorable mention all-American. The Helena, MT native led the entire Frontier Conference in rebounding, blocked shots, FG%, steals, and was top ten in scoring. Troy Owens, Jr. was also named an all-conference honoree. The junior college transfer from Sacramento, CA was a top ten scorer in the conference, and finished top five in 3 point shooting. As a team, the Orediggers were the premier defensive team in the Frontier. They were in the top three of almost every defensive category. Perhaps the most impressive honor achieved last season was leading the Frontier Conference in academic all-conference performers. Montana Tech embodies what it means to be successful student-athletes.
With 10 returning players and a bevy of outstanding recruits, the Montana Tech basketball team looks to build on this momentum. We are asking for your assistance in helping us hang banners in the HPER rafters, as well as compete in the National Tournament in Kansas City, MO for the first time in over twenty years. To accomplish these goals, we need to continue to recruit and develop student athletes who will perform successfully in the classroom and compete at a championship level. Increasing the funds for our men’s basketball program is a crucial component to make our vision a reality. We have an initial goal of $15,000 dollars for the 2019-20 season and every gift counts!
