Montana Technological University Mine Rescue

Montana Technological University Mine Rescue is a student run organization that aims to give our members the skills and experience of being on a mine rescue team. The club focuses on preparing for collegiate and professional mine rescue competitions where teams get to respond to scenarios and hone their rescue skill set as well as network with members of the industry. Team members are taught hands-on first aid skills in addition to the care and maintenance of specialized mine rescue equipment. The knowledge that we gain will be valuable for the rest of our careers, even outside of mine rescue.

With an emphasis on skill building the Montana Technological University Mine Rescue Team will host a Mine Rescue competition on September 24 and 25, 2021 at the Montana Tech Underground Mine Education Center (UMEC) and the World Museum of Mining in Butte, MT.  Student mine rescue teams from Mining Engineering programs in the United States will be invited to compete against each other by demonstrating the first aid and rescue skills required to be a member of a certified Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) mine rescue team.

We are reaching out for your support because the equipment needed for mine rescue competitions is both specialized and expensive.  In cooperation with the World Museum of Mining a grant was approved for purchasing equipment for the competition, but the Mine Rescue Team must fundraise the $30,000 for the equipment purchase before the museum can be reimbursed from the grant. In addition to equipment, we anticipate additional expenses for the competition will include elements like shirts, trophies, food, marketing and more. 

Without the generous support of business sponsors and individuals such as yourself, the Montana Tech Mine Rescue Team will not be able to hold this competition. There are multiple sponsorship levels available and your name and logo will be on a banner with your sponsor level displayed during the mine rescue competition.
