Montana Tech Mining Team

Help the Montana Tech Mining Team travel to Australia

The International Collegiate Mining Games began in 1978 and teams represent universities throughout the United States, Canada, England, and Australia, and the hosting school alternates each year. Montana Tech has taken part in each of the previous annual events and will compete in the 47th Intercollegiate Mining Games in March 2025 in Camborne England.

The competition aims to honor traditional mining techniques, as well as strengthen the camaraderie of the mining students of today. Being the largest event of its kind in the world, it is highly competitive, and there is a great amount of prestige for the winners.

The competition runs over two days, with points assigned to each team in each event according to place of finish, and the lowest cumulative score at the end of all seven events is the overall winner. Plaques are awarded to the top finishers in each event, and the "The Sunshine" traveling trophy is awarded to the team who finishes first place overall.

This year Montana Tech hopes to take four teams and faculty chaperons to the competition in England. Along with the competition, students will have the opportunity to visit mine sites in the area.

Montana Tech Mining Team is asking for our support to help with additional travel costs that come with international travel.  Please consider making a gift today.
