Invest in Butte students through the Kevin and Joan Shannon Scholarship

Butte has a long tradition of taking care of their own, and Kevin and Joan Shannon are true examples of that spirit.

In 1986, Kevin started the Montana Tech Scholarship Club, now the Kevin and Joan Shannon Scholarship to offer Butte students a little extra help to attend Montana Tech. Kevin would visit local businesses in Butte and ask if they would be willing to chip in $5, or more if they were able, to contribute to the scholarship.   

From those humble beginnings, over the last 35 years, the Kevin and Joan Shannon Scholarship has awarded nearly $200,000 to over 400 Butte High and Butte Central students attending Montana Tech. 

Kevin believed in the importance of education and the impact it can have on our local community and economy. Today we are reaching out to ask you to continue the legacy Kevin started.  We are asking you to give what you can and make an investment in Butte students and their future.
